2/20/2020 0 Comments Tips for the PERFECT Spray Tan![]() AVOID Self-tanners, color developing liquid foundations, etc for a week before a spray tan. Your body can only absorb so much "DHA" (the active spray ingredient, also in most self tanners or bronzing make-ups) and if you use products like that the few days before a spray it can cause your spray to be splotchy. With some patches too dark, some too light, and some just being stubborn and not wanting to absorb. ![]() Shower Don't be too early, or late with showering. You want your skin to be prepped and ready but waiting till last minute makes your skin too fresh, and doing it too early makes that fresh skin start to create dead skin cells. We suggest showering no earlier than 24 hours before a spray and no later than 6 hours before a spray. ![]() Exfoliate Exfoliating with Tan-Approved scrubs or washes will remove the layer of skin that is going to flake your spray away the fastest. After you've washed, shampooed, and conditioned, get a spray-tan friendly scrub to buff away all that extra skin. ![]() Shave After exfoliating, that is the best time to shave. Having any extra dead skin cells won't get your shave nice and close. So exfoliating first, then shaving will literally prep your skin for long lasting spray coverage! We do suggest rinsing with cool water after shaving to close pores. Pro Tip: The less you scrub & shower after your spray the longer your spray will last! ![]() Leave It Be & Wear Comfy, Loose Clothing. The best skin is bare skin for a spray. No make up, no perfume, no lotion, no moisturizers, no creams, no body sprays, no deodorant, how your body is after you get out of that shower is how it should be going into the spray room! But on your Sunday Morning lounge clothes. You want baggy, loose clothes after your spray! We do have prep approved make up and body wipes if you forget. ![]() After your Spray Wait 8 to 24 hours to "rinse" off. That's right, just a cool rinse off in the shower. Any product that first rinse off can strip the color. The longer you wait in between showers and shaving the longer your spray will last. ![]() Skin Care Routine We suggest using salon quality, tan extending washes, moisturizers. face creams and tanning lotions. Believe it or not, over the counter ones are not formulated to extend the life of your tan, and most have ingredients in them that will strip or fade your color! The more hydrated your skin is, the longer it will last. Using the right shower products won't wash your tan down the drain, either. Pro Tip: PAT dry with towels after showers so you don't rub your spray tan off. ![]() Before another Spray Your body can't take that much spray tan, so we suggest spraying 1 time in a 7-day period. If at day 10 you still have color we suggest using a color remover before your next spray. After 4 weekly sprays we suggesting skipping a full week so your solution can fall completely off. Too much spray will cause you not to hold color well. ![]() Enjoy a cocktail, aka a double dip session! You may UV tan in any unit before a spray tan with the use of double-dip approved lotions. We carry a huge variety! Or you can use a stand up UV session after your spray (borrow a robe and we can send you right over) for about 4 minutes max to dry and lock in your tan a little better! But you can't lay down tan after a spray cause the spray will stick to the bed (yikes), and you can't uv tan before without special lotion cause no lotion will dry out your skin and make the tan settle wonky, and you can't just use any product cause ingredients in most lotions will block the spray from absorbing. FEAR NOT, we got you covered in golden goddess color from head to toe! Please see the demo video below on how to position yourself in the booth, which we can go over with you.
